Kissman Family House Status

Welcome to the Kissman family house status web page. We are currently building a house addition. We have started this 5 years after moving our house

Proposed elevations of the house

This is Kevin excavating a portion of the basement.

Here are the basement walls going up

Here we are framing the 1st floor

Now, it is time for some walls

Now we are working on the second floor

Theo is on the left, Patrick is on the right and I am fastening the floor behind them

and now we have some assistants helping with the inspections

and now we have Kate wanting to be involved with the construction

update 3/13/06

We managed to finish the decking on the 2nd floor, frame and tar paper the mudroom roof, move all of the lumber to the second floor so we... Start building the second floor walls.

update 4/9/06

We needed to work on the main entrance to the house but before we could there was some infrastructure drainage that needed to be put in so that when we hook gutters and downspouts in, we will have a place to drain it to.

Then we put paving brick in and got it looking nice.

update 4/13/06

Bunny said that I needed to show the entire house, So I added this picture to give everyone the whole view.

I took a vacation day from work and got a good portion of the porch roof done.

update 6/1/06

It has been a while since an update so here we go...

I modified my backhoe to lift the roof trusses in place. Each truss weighs about 100 lbs - really not very heavy but they are very bulky

Here are the first few trusses that are up

Here are some more

Here is what it looks like from under the trusses

Here is what it looks like with most of the sheathing on

Here is a view from the other side

Here is another view from the inside with most of the sheathing up

And in my spare time, we decided to add a little pond

If pioneer lumber decides to become a paid advertiser to my web site, I will turn their barrier wrap right side up so 'Pioneer lumber' will be more easily read and this is Theodore posing in this picture.
