Kissman Family home page

This is Kevin and Susan Kissmans' big house move. Our house was located right on the road, with the driveway on the north, big tree we wanted to keep on the west, the street on the east and the kitchen on south. We could not easily add on and the basement was not very deep so we initiated a 3 step plan.

1. Build a new, large garage to store items from basement and attach and transfer all possible utilities to it and knock down old 'chicken coop' shed

2. Build new basement foundation and move house. This included updating the heating cooling system with new furnace and central air. Replace as much of the old plumbing as possible.

3. Update house. We upgraded the front roof to a 3/12 pitch to remove the flat roof which had a presistant leak problem. Replaced all but one of the windows, install a sliding glass patio door and a new rear door. Replace all the old (yeck!) gray siding and replace it with a nice creame vinyl siding and replace all the soffit and facia.

This is what a house looks like when you put wheels under it.

In case you are wondering, a large loader is used to pull the house to its new location.

This is the house on the move. It weighs 37.5 tons (75,000 lbs)

Here is the house next to the new foundation. The workers will put the house on the steel and roll the house over the new foundation

House is almost moved
